“ In the market of entertainers Dieter really stands out because of his blend of breath-taking scientific stunts and contagious humour. We’ve worked with Dieter Wadeson for many years now, programming him at a whole host of family festivals and events,  his rapport with an audience is tip top,  families of all ages sit entirely transfixed. He’s a real pleasure to work with, we’d recommend him whole heartedly   - unless you have an event the same weekend as us in which case you definitely shouldn’t offer him loads of money to come and perform at yours"

''For our children, the Spellbound Forest drew us in to enjoy the rest of our evening where we saw the amazing Professor Pumbenickel, an eccentric scientist entertaining people around the campfire. We’d heard that this was a must-see show and we’d wholeheartedly agree with this…..absolutely brilliant and the children (and adults) filled the forest with belly laughs! He was without a doubt our children’s favourite performance of the festival and that’s not taking anything from any of the other performances which were thoroughly enjoyed they just LOVED Professor Pumpernickel that much!''

''With his blue hair, lab coat, German accent, exuberant personality and laboratory of lunacy, Professor Pumpernickle is another unmissable experience. We watched mind-bending illusions, mini explosions, chemical reactions and more – all accompanied by the Professor’s contagious humour!''

''around the campfire with the very incredible Professor Pumpernickel (not pumpy knickers, as he corrected us). The blue haired professor is always a highlight. His collections of whizz-banging experiments are not to be missed and the boy was rapt. He even went up to him afterwards and had a chat with him, which demonstrated a huge leap in his confidence.''

“Thanks so much for providing the entertainment for our Tour of Britain events!  As always, the children (and adults) had a great time, whilst learning something too. Thank you for helping the events run so smoothly, and also for being so flexible and working around our requirements.

The school groups who attended on the Friday had lovely things to say, so I am attaching a few of the children’s comments, as Professor Pumpernickel (and his amazing hair) clearly made quite a huge impression.  It was lovely having you with us again – and we hope to be able to invite you back in the very near future!”

I’ve used Dieter (Tinderbox Creations) on several occasions this year for events at Brockhole on Windermere. He is a highly skilled performer who captures the audiences imagination with amazing experiments, leaving them wanting more! He is very flexible in his approach and is able to engage with all ages.

Dieter is very pleasant and professional to work with. Nothing is too much trouble and he has a very ‘can do’ problem solving, attitude. I’d thoroughly recommend him for both individual events or to compliment a much larger festival.

I just wanted to get in touch and say thank you for last Friday. I'm sorry we didn't get chance to talk. I got collared by a parent after school. The kids absolutely loved it and haven't stopped talking about it. As you might be aware, we've had some tough times at the school recently and it meant a lot to be able to give the kids something so special.

What a superb show!

Keeps the children engaged and entertained for the entire performance!

When I supply Professor Pumpernickel for an event I can rest easy knowing that the crowd are guaranteed a professional jam packed act that astounds all ages.

The simple use of science in the act makes him not only highly entertaining, but also educational.

You just need to take a look at the children’s faces to see how transfixed they are by him.

Me and my children can’t wait until the next show!

Re Tinderbox Creations,

We have used the services of Dieter  (Tinderbox Creations) many times at Muncaster over the last four or five years or so….probably longer.

He is a highly skilled performer and quickly builds a good rapport with audiences which at Muncaster are primarily families but I have seen him relate well to visitors of all ages whether local, national or from overseas.

He has developed a wide range of characters and persona which adapt or change dependant on which event he is attending. His performances are usually educational as well as entertaining and presentations are often scientifically based. This makes them stand out from many other performers we employ here on an occasional basis. Most “jesters” and similar seem to base their acts around juggling or variations on that theme.

Dieter has a good knowledge of pyrotechnics and we’ve used him to present amazing firework displays at Muncaster in the past and we regularly use him to fire our cannons. Good at working with young or inexperienced performers and does not simply pack up and go home when the performance slot is over. Often working far beyond what he has been contracted to do and can be relied on in emergencies to adapt and change as required. Even in bad weather he is always cheerful and can be trusted to always deliver a good performance.

Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Frost-Pennington

Hi Professor Pumpernickel,

My children and I saw you at Tullie House, Carlisle when you performed your Spectacular Science show in March.   We all thoroughly enjoyed your show, and my children were amazed and in awe of your experiments during the show.  Your enthusiasm for science was infectious.

Plumpton School, Carlisle:

Professor Pumpernickel not only entertained the children but had us adults at the back intrigued & laughing.

Professor Pumpernickel captured the audience’s attention with his imaginative experiments throughout his exciting science show. Definitely a good fund raising idea for all ages .

The atmosphere was buzzing.

Liam (aged6) It was totally awesome.

Beth (aged 7) My best bit was when he set fire to his hands and didn’t get injured. It was amazing.

Robyn (aged 10) I loved it, especially learning about chemical reactions in a fun way

Mally (aged 5) It was totally awesome and cool!

Henry (aged 7). I loved it. My favourite thing was the dancing flames and when he made the water go black.

Hi Professor,

Thanks so much for the show this morning. It was (from my perspective at least) a pretty tough crowd and I thought you did an amazing job. My kids haven’t stopped talking about it since we got home and were thrilled to tell their Dad all about it. They even told him some of the science, and not just the bangs... Yey!

Many thanks again, the kids and I all had fun! (I loved setting fire to the bubbles... more fun in hands than on a desk as I had to do when I taught!)

Best wishes,

Ruth Evans

Professor Pumpernickel was absolutely fabulous! He had the whole audience (from babies upwards!) captivated by his amazing experiments. He was incredibly professional to deal with and a pleasure to work with. We can’t wait to have him back to the Museum.

St Bridget's Primary School - Headteacher Suzanne Smith said: “To celebrate British Science Week, we have brought science to life with a bang at St Bridget’s! Professor Pumpernickel has wowed us all with flashes and crackers, and our children – dressed as scientists.”

Northwest Evening Mail said:

"A SCHOOL hall turned into a laboratory of lunacy and laughs when Professor Pumpernickel showed youngsters the marvels of science.

Ormsgill Nursery and Primary School in Mill Bank, Barrow, received a visit from the crazy character who performed magnificent and explosive experiments on Monday.

Smoke rings, colour-changing liquids and fire tornadoes enchanted the audience of pupils as the scientist demonstrated the wonders of physics, biology and chemistry.

With wild blue hair, goofy orange glasses and white lab coat, Professor Pumpernickel delivered a truly spectacular show.

Headteacher Mick Cull said: "They loved it. Hearing the oohs and ahhs from the children was great. They were really impressed.

It was very exciting and engaging. There was an exciting iodine experiment where he changed the colour of some different liquids, he blew big smoke rings, he did a genie in a bottle experiment, looked at sound waves and created a vortex with flames".

"It was very much promoting the children using scientific vocabulary which I thought was fantastic, even for nursery children."

Professor Pumpernickel, aka Dieter Wadeson, visits schools, festivals and events across Cumbria and the North West, bringing his German accent and comedic impressions with him.

Ormsgill Primary School - Headteacher Mick contacted the prof' to say: "We had a fantastic day and the children (and staff!) are still buzzing about your show. It was entertaining, educational  and above all, exciting! It was the perfect way to launch our science week. The children are all talking about what they learned, using scientific vocabulary and have already started planning what they'd like to learn next.

Thanks again for a brilliant day."
